What to do around the Genghis Khan equestrian Statue ?
For those who transit to Ulaanbaatar and want to escape to the turmoil of the city and breath fresh air, you can visit the famous Genghis Khan equestrian statue, one of the most interesting spot around.
By the way, did you know this statue is the biggest equestrian statue in the world! This is located in Tsonjin Boldog, birth place of Genghis Khan, in Töv Aimag, about 60 km away from the capital city Ulaanbaatar. The opening has been officialized in September 2008, and still today a lot of construction projects are ongoing : about 200 yurts for accommodation, a golf course, an open theater, an artificial lake, a sport complex and even a 1000 tree plantation. Despites this complex not yet been finalized, it is already possible to enjoy numerous activities around, another way to get busy and having fun. Killing two birds with one stone! First, we recommend to visit the statue itself. One ticket for an adult is 7000 tugriks (about $3,5), and 3500 tugriks per child ($1.75). Entering the statue, you will discover the museum that exposes the ancient artifacts of the bronze age as well as those from the Xiongnu empire, some small souvenirs shops, coffee shops, a restaurant and even a post office! Interesting to note: visitors can actually have a way inside of the horse head of the statue, from where they can be delighted of the view offered. The panoramic view of Tsonjin Boldog is all by itself a symbol on its own!
You can totally immerse yourself into the rich Mongolian culture, by taking pictures wearing traditional clothes, for a small fee of 3500 tugriks ($1.75). There will a be a costume for everyone, as the range is pretty big. 
In terms of activities, pet lovers would love to spend some time with the eagles around the statue, you can actually wear a glove and be photographed holding the great eagle on your arm. Be aware : this is pretty heavy ! 
To add more to this place, you can welcome some comfort with a yurt camp, that started to open for tourists this year. You can relax with hot water inside the yurts. For one night, the price is between 135,000 to 165,000 tugriks ($68 to $83). Then, what we can recommend you would be to visit the Hoelun monument, erected to celebrate the mother of Genghis Khan. Just like Börte, the famous first wife of Genghis Khan, Hoelun was generally recognized as a wise adviser to the great King, one the trustworthy ones. During the great battles leaded by her son, she took care of the orphans, adopted them and integrated them into the family, as a smart strategy to gain loyalty over the conquered tribes.
For extreme sport lovers, autogyro (or gyrocopter) can be another way to discover the beauty of the Mongolian land. Located at about 3km away from the statue, you will pass over Tsonjin Boldog and the Tuul river. A wonderful view ! 
Price range from 40,000 to 300,000 tugriks depending on the duration of the flight ($15 to $150). Then when the time comes to go back to Ulaanbaatar after a day full of emotions, you will be surprised to come across a Karting track. You will feel the need to make another stop !
Up to 10 karts, you can be joined by 9 competitors over the 365 meter long track, an ideal fun time for a family or a small group. One race costs about 5000 tugriks ($2,5). Here you are ! Those are the main activities possible around the famous Genghis Khan statue.
